Mango Bay Resort

Welcome and Resort Development Plans from the New Owner – Keith Newton

As the new owners of Mango Bay Resort, we are delighted to welcome returning, and first-time guests to our wonderful piece of paradise on Virgin Gorda. My family, the Newtons from Australia have been vacation villa owners on Virgin Gorda for over 12 years, and for the past few years myself, and my partner Sally, have been lucky enough to become residents of Virgin Gorda.

We were extremely excited to have the opportunity to purchase Mango Bay, one of the few true beach & reef front resorts on the island. Mango Bay was built and operated by the late BVI hospitality pioneer, Mr Aldo Moretti in the mid 1980s and has been operated since then by him and his family.

Our plans are to continue to provide the same bespoke, quiet, uncluttered vacation experience for which Mango Bay is renowned, while upgrading and extending the facilities available to our guests and the other villa residents in the Mango Bay community.

·      The first and now completed project is the reconstruction of the dock, which was destroyed by Hurricane Irma. This will enable arrivals and collections by water, as well as the opportunity for guests to join local sightseeing and dive tours directly from the resort. Guests with their own or chartered boats, will be able to moor them at the resort and use the dockside facilities.

·      The second is the opening of restaurants providing the food & beverage services which are expected at a resort such as Mango Bay. Initially this will be the “Mango Bay Terrace” located near the pool which is  serving evening meals Monday toThursday to resort guests only.  Later this year we will open a full-service casual restaurant and bar on the waterfront near the dock where Giorgios’s restaurant was located. In addition to providing a swimming and snorkelling area, lounge chairs, and cabanas it will be open to Mango Bay Estate and Mahoe Bay villa residents as well as the public.

·      The third phase is the most exciting. The reconstruction of the Katiche Great House with its Iconic pyramid shaped roof. This will house a fine dining restaurant, spa facilities, and three luxury villas to allow guests to experience the breathtaking   views of the water and three of VG´s favourite beaches – Savanah, Pond and Mahoe. Katiche will be connected to the dock and restaurant below by a funicular running up the cliff face.

·      We are also in the process of upgrading the villas, and communal facilities such as the beach toys, car parks, gardens, laundry and pool side bathrooms, as well as constructing a new managers house and office, additional staff quarters, and renovating or replacing the resort utilities and service areas.

We are delighted to share that Ashley Golder will continue as our dedicated General Manager, providing strong leadership and ensuring the warm, exceptional hospitality you have always enjoyed at Mango Bay. Our valued long-term team members—including Daisy, Maria, Rey and the rest of our outstanding staff—remain committed to delivering the friendly, high-quality service that makes every stay special.  We were sorry to see Mary Beth and Lenny move back to the USA and wish them well in the future. Dwite Flax and his Ebony & Ivory team will also continue providing excellent construction and facilities management.

We are especially excited to welcome our new villa specialists, Ruby and Reinhard, who will be joining the team very soon along with their adorable young son, Leo. They will live onsite, allowing them to offer round-the-clock care and immediate, personalized attention. Ruby will personally handle guest greetings and villa hosting to ensure a warm, thoughtful welcome for every arrival, while Reinhard will head up maintenance, bringing fresh expertise and dedication to keeping everything in perfect condition.

I look forward to meeting you soon and hearing any comments or suggestions you may have to help us make Mango Bay even more enjoyable for you and future guests.
